Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted to work with animals, so a career as a veterinary nurse has always been my dream. In 2007 I found a placement in a small animal first opinion practice in Gloucester, having never worked in a veterinary practice before, I fell in love with the job and started my ANA training in 2009, I went on to do my Veterinary Nurse training in 2010 and Qualified in 2013.

To train, I worked full-time learning all of my practical skills at work and went to college one day a week to learn the theory part of the job. There are theory exams, practical examinations, a work-based progress log and assignments to complete before you can qualify so when you do, it’s something to feel very proud of.

A year after qualifying in August 2014, I decided to leave the first opinion practice and go to a referral practice in Swindon, I decided to do this to gain more experience and further my knowledge in the veterinary world.

In April 2017 I joined Corinium Vets after being at the referral practice for 2 years and realising that a first opinion practice is where my heart lies. Here I will be the main theatre nurse, so when your pet comes in for an operation, I will make sure he/she is looked after to the best of my ability and give them lots of cuddles when they are in recovery.

I am also hoping to introduce some more nurse clinics into the practice, so watch out for some exciting times ahead at Corinium Vets.
